Law Enforcement Rangers

About the role
Purpose of the Position
Reporting to the Law Enforcement Warden, the Ranger will be responsible for conducting field patrols and supporting related activities, including wildlife monitoring, fire management, and overall protection of the park ecosystem.
Duties and Responsibilities
Successful candidates will be expected to:
- Conduct patrols in accordance with approved plans and instructions
- Detect, prevent, and report illegal activities within park areas
- Monitor key wildlife species, observe behaviour, and report findings
- Record wildlife observations and signs of illegal activity using GPS equipment
- Support fire prevention and management efforts
- Collaborate with electric fence attendants (applicable to Akagera National Park)
- Participate in human-wildlife conflict mitigation activities
- Contribute to the protection and conservation of the park ecosystem
Required Qualifications, Knowledge, and Skills
Applicants must meet the following minimum requirements:
- Minimum qualification of Senior Six (A2) or TVET certification
- Aged between 20 and 28 years
- Background or training in conservation, biodiversity, or related fields is an added advantage

- Willingness to work in bush and nature-based environments
- High level of discipline and professionalism
- Ability to work flexible hours, including day and night shifts
- Integrity and good interpersonal skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Effective communication and reporting skills
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team
- Willingness to work in remote and isolated areas
- Ability to perform under pressure and beyond standard working hours
Added Advantage
- Experience in the use of GPS devices
- Bush survival skills
- First aid training
- Valid motorcycle driving licence
- Prior experience working with security organs
Language Requirements
Fluency in:
- Kinyarwanda
- Working knowledge of English or French
